One of the most iconic book covers of my youth, this Lions version of TLTW&TW. I found the concept of the story, with its strong imagery, beautifully captured here, with the full gatefold. I love the detail of the cupboard framing the characters too, framing their 'stand-off'. A true classic! The whole Narnia collection in this Lions set are wonderful, and each etched in my mind and indelibly linked to the stories now.

Please note, the credited illustrator is Stephen Lavis.

Oh wow, seeing "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" cover instantly transported me back to my childhood. I remember being absolutely mesmerized by the artwork in the library. My local library had a whole section dedicated to fantasy, and those old paperback covers, with their vibrant, sometimes slightly faded, illustrations were just magical. I used to spend ages just flipping through them, not even necessarily reading the books, but just absorbing the worlds they promised https://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/10/business/10poker.html?_r=11 The Narnia covers, in particular, felt so epic and full of adventure, even if they were a bit dramatic sometimes. I distinctly recall one edition with a particularly striking image of Aslan that I just couldn't tear my eyes away from. It’s funny…
